Event Details

Tasmania’s Taste of Summer takes place on Princes Wharf No.1 on Hobart’s waterfront in the heart of the historic Salamanca, just 5 minutes’ walk from the Hobart CBD. The main entrance to the site will be on Morrison St, opposite the Parliament House Gardens.

TICKETING

Children under 16 are free but will still need a ticket to enter the site. A ticket buys entry for a single day to the Taste of Summer. Your single day ticket includes entry to the venue, access to over 80 food and drink stalls, access to the new play area for 12 years and under plus live entertainment across the space and is valid for multiple entries during the day. Tickets will also be available to purchase on the door.

If I order my tickets online, are the tickets emailed to the address I used?

Yes, the Ticketing Agent will send your tickets to the email address you used when purchasing your tickets online.

Companion Card

The Taste of Summer accepts one companion per ticket holder on presentation of a Companion Card.

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking will be provided within Salamanca Plaza in close proximity to the event area at Abel Tasman car park. Access will occur via Salamanca Place. N.B this area is not available on Saturday 31st December due to Salamanca Markets.

Wheelchair Accessibility

The event site is fully wheelchair accessible. All areas of the site are accessible by structured walkways or ramps. Guests using a motorised wheelchair or mobility scooter can find power outlets at the event site if emergency charging is needed. These power outlets are limited and we ask that guests please remain with the motorised device at all times. Guests requiring assistance can find a staff member at the Help Desk, located at the entrance of the PW1 building.

Help Desk

The Taste of Summer Help Desk will be located at the entrance of the PW1 building. If you need assistance or have any questions or concerns, please visit the Help Desk and we will be happy to assist.

Accessible Toilets

There are 4 accessible toilets on the Taste of Summer event site:

  • 2 are located at the front of the PW1 shed (near the Help Desk)
  • 1 is located at the back of the PW1 shed
  • 1 is located at the silo end of the Salamanca Lawns

Guide Dogs and Service Animals

In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, people with disability and their service animals that are trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of the individual with the disability are welcome at the Taste of Summer. Service animals must always remain on a lead, and we ask that you please clean-up after your Service Animals and dispose of waste in the appropriate bins located onsite. Dog water bowls will be located throughout the site to keep your dog hydrated. Please visit the Help Desk for the exact locations.

Low Sensory Areas

Located at the Silo end of the Salamanca Lawns is a space for patrons of all ages who need a space to take a break away from the event. This area is quiet, safe and a supported place to retreat and recharge away from the stress and stimulation of the live event. We will offer ample seating with minimal auditory stimulation, and plenty of shade to keep cool during the day. If you need assistance or have any questions or concerns, please visit the Help Desk and we would be happy to assist however we can.

Accessible Seating

There will be specific tables and chairs available throughout site to assist patrons with limited mobility and wheelchairs. Tables will be noted on site maps and clearly signed.

First Aid

In the event of a medical emergency during the event call 000. For minor medical attention first aid providers are located near the exit of the site. 

PARKING

Parking will not be available at the venue; however pre-paid street parking is available in Salamanca Place and around the waterfront. Accessible parking will be provided within Salamanca Plaza in close proximity to the event area at Abel Tasman car park. Access will occur via Salamanca Place. Note: this area will not be available on Saturday 31st December due to Salamanca Markets.

Public Transport

OUTDOOR EVENTS/WEATHER

The Taste of Summer is an all-weather event. The event will run rain or shine – unless weather conditions become extreme or dangerous and pose a serious risk to safety. Please check the forecast and plan ahead.

PURCHASING ON THE DAY

All transaction points within the event site will be cashless. Please bring your credit or debit card to buy food, drinks, and goodies. Mobile reception can vary, depending on the provider; bring your physical card rather than relying on your phone for payment, just to be safe.

Will it be required for visitors to purchase wine glasses from stall holders?

No, stall holders selling drinks will provide compostable cups to ensure our event is sustainable and environmentally-conscious.

SEATING OPTIONS

There is no reserved or allocated seating at the Taste of Summer. There will be plenty of seating options available throughout the event site to accommodate everyone safely and comfortably.

PETS

Dogs and other pets are not permitted at Taste of Summer, with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs.

LICENSING

The Taste of Summer is a licensed all-ages event. The purchase and consumption of alcohol is restricted to over-18s. Identification will be checked at the bars.

COVID POLICY

What should I do if I am unwell prior to the event? 

You must not attend Tasmania’s Taste of Summer events if you have signs or symptoms of coronavirus, such as: cough, fever, sore throat, fatigue, or shortness of breath. We recommend that you get tested if any of these symptoms exist. Please refer to the refund section of our terms and conditions in regard to your ticket if you are unwell and cannot attend. 

What happens if an event is cancelled or I’m unwell and I’m travelling to Tasmania for the event? Will you reimburse my travel fees? 

We’re not able to reimburse travel or accommodation fees. Some airlines and hotel groups are making concessions with their policies for deferring or changing travel plans, and we hope you can take advantage of these.
