Tasmania’s Taste of Summer is a celebration of lutruwita/Tasmania’s culinary heritage and natural bounty.  Held on the waterfront of nipaluna/Hobart, for almost forty years Taste has brought together the finest artisans and makers from right across the island to showcase our unique way of life, culture and community, and world-class produce.

Tasmania’s Taste of Summer takes place on Princes Wharf No.1 in the heart of the historic Salamanca, just 5 minutes’ walk from the Hobart CBD. The main entrance to the site is on Morrison St, opposite the Parliament House Gardens.

  • Children under 16 are free but will still need a ticket to enter the site, either with or without an adult. A ticket buys entry for a single day to the Taste of Summer. Your single day ticket includes entry to the venue, access to over 75 food and drink stalls, access to the play area for 12 years and under plus live entertainment across the space and is valid for multiple entries during the day. Tickets will also be available to purchase on the door. Concession cards will be checked upon entry.

    If I order my tickets online, are the tickets emailed to the address I used?

    Yes, the Ticketing Agent will send your tickets to the email address you used when purchasing your tickets online.

  • The Taste of Summer is completely cashless, so make sure to bring your card.

  • The Taste of Summer Information Desk will be located at the entrance of the PW1 building. If you need assistance or have any questions or concerns, please visit the Information Desk and we will be happy to assist.

  • City of Hobart presents fireworks displays at 9.30pm and midnight on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday 31 December.

  • If you require a pass out, get a stamp from event staff before leaving the event site. Re-entry is subject to capacity. 

  • Choose to walk, bike, take public transport or coordinate transportation with other attendees. 

    • Bus: For public transport options please check the Metro Tasmania Trip planner on www.metrotas.com.au. The nearest bus stop is Hobart Interchange, Macquarie St, Stop D2.

    • E-Scooters: Beam purple e-scooters are available throughout Hobart. You’ll need your phone to connect to the app to ride. Scooters are not permitted to be taken into the Taste, so please use the designated scooter parking areas to help keep footpaths clear.

    • Parking: For the duration of the Taste of Summer, the City of Hobart is offering free car parking at the Regatta Grounds, off McVilly Drive. For more car parks around the city see here.  Accessible parking will be provided in close proximity to the event area at Abel Tasman car park of Salamanca Plan, and within the Murray Street car park.

  • Castray Esplanade will be closed Monday 16 December - Tuesday 7 January (5am-5pm) From Morrison Street to the rear of Princes Wharf. Additional road closures will be in place for NYE. See here for more information.

  • Dogs and other pets are not permitted at Taste of Summer, with the exception of guide dogs and assistance animals.

  • There is no reserved or allocated seating at the Taste of Summer. There will be plenty of seating options available throughout the event site to accommodate everyone safely and comfortably. For a premium seating option check out the Tasman Yacht Club ticket.

  • The Taste of Summer is 100% smoke free and vape free. If you need to leave the site, pass outs will be available at the exit.

  • The Taste of Summer continues to be a leader in environmental event management. 

    To create a positive collective impact, we invite you to help us to create a more sustainable event and continue to reduce our environmental footprint.  

    Here are some easy strategies:   

    Walk, cycle, carpool or catch a bus to the event. 

    Get familiar with our two-bin system for best practice waste disposal.  All stalls serve their menu items in compostable cups, plates and other packaging which can all be disposed of in the compostable bins around the site, everything else should be recyclable.  

    Purchase a Taste reusable wine cup for $5 from all wine stalls and the Taste bars. 

    Bring your favourite water bottle and fill up at the free water stations throughout the event and at the Taste bars.

  • The Taste of Summer is an all-weather event. The event will run rain or shine – unless weather conditions become extreme or dangerous and pose a serious risk to safety. Please check the forecast and plan ahead.

  • In the event of a medical emergency during the event call 000. For minor medical attention, first aid providers are located near the exit of the site. 

  • A parenting room will be available on Salamanca Lawns near the kids area, and additional change tables will be available in the accessible toilets in PW1.

  • The Taste of Summer is a licensed all-ages event. The purchase and consumption of alcohol is restricted to over-18s. Identification will be checked at the bars.
